MDF fronts coated with PVC film

assembly, use and maintenance

MDF fronts must be used accordingly to their structure and destination. Fronts must be protected against the detrimental impact of weather conditions and direct operation of sunlight.

  • relative humidity allowed 40–70%
  • room temperature 10–30°C

Fronts should be assembled in closed, aired and properly ventilated rooms. Ventilation should ensure free flow of air and consist of a hood or air grill (in case of kitchens). Attention needs to be paid to air humidity, and if low air humidity must be increased with the use of humidifiers. Care needs to be taken not to allow room temperature rise above 30°C. Fronts cannot be used outdoors.

Fronts must be fixed in vertical position with the use of an adequate number and type of hinges. It is not recommended to use the fronts in horizontal position, because the surface damage or bending is not subject to complaint in such situation.

As regards fronts up to 800 mm high deviation from the plane of up to 2 mm is allowed, whereas in larger fronts, the stability of an element cannot be guaranteed, unless special tightening accessories available at furniture accessory wholesale shops are applied. The front edge appearance differs from the appearance of the whole front surface owing to the manufacturing process technology.

In fronts with wood imitating coating identical ring pattern or shade of colour cannot be guaranteed across the whole assortment. Discontinued ring pattern between the particular panels may not be subject to complaint. In case of ordering additional fronts at other dates, slight differences in film shade may appear.

Due to engineering reasons slight surface defects are allowed (3 defects of up to 2 mm diameter per 1 m2 of surface), which include surface indentation, swelling, or discolouration which does not affect the aesthetics of the element.

Fronts must be protected against direct contact with heating equipment (oven, halide lamps) or vapours emitting equipment (dishwasher, kettle). Oven and dishwasher must be intended for building in and be provided with the equipment side wall cooling. If older type equipment is installed in the vicinity of the fronts, additional screening elements or slats must be applied and adequate distance must be kept. It is forbidden to leave the dishwasher or oven door open after the completed washing or baking/roasting cycle what may result in the front damage and loss of guarantee. Hood should be always on when cooking in order to avoid front damage (film scaling) resulting from hot vapours. It must be remembered to regularly exchange carbon filters so as to ensure proper operation of the equipment.

The surface of the fronts must be protected against contact with sharp or rough objects, solvents, caustic substances or strongly colouring substances.

Fronts must be cleaned regularly with soft cotton or microfibre cloth and soap water solution or delicate cleaning liquid. The cleaning agent contact with the surface must be short.

Any smudges of dirt must be immediately removed and cleaned, particularly in the case of strongly colouring substances (e.g. coffee, curry, ketchup). The stains cannot be left to dry, as this may result in permanent surface discolouration.

No brushes may be used to clean the fronts, nor solvents, abrasive agents, bleaching agents or strongly concentrated cleaning agents.

MDF fronts coated with high-gloss film

assembly, use and maintenance

Furniture fronts coated with high-gloss films are additionally covered with protective cling film in order to prevent mechanical damage during assembly or transport.

The cling film must be removed immediately after the element fixing. The surface of the fronts is then particularly susceptible to scratching or damage, therefore, it should not be touched, wiped or polished for at least 48 hours thereafter. The fronts may be cleaned only after one week from the moment of the cling film removal, as during that time the surface of the front is hardening under the operation of UV light.

Acrylic fronts

maintenance, use, assembly

Acrylic fronts are made of boards coated with acrylic resin. The external surface finish is gloss (AG) and protected with cling film, whereas the internal surface finish is matt to office standard (BS). Acrylic coated fronts are characterised with intensive gloss, moisture resistance and UV light resistance.

The fronts may be provided with trim in the same colour of in two colours (DUO), thus arriving at the visual effect of glass fronts.

Acrylic fronts are covered with cling film to protect the element against damage.

The fronts must be assembled in dry rooms at temperatures between 15°C and 30°C. The cling film needs to be removed as soon as the front is fixed. The hardening process of acrylic surface, then particularly susceptible to scratching and damage, takes place immediately after the cling film removal. The hardening process takes about 7 days and the fronts should not be wiped, polished or cleaned during that time. In order to accelerate the process of hardening and improve scratch resistance acrylic fronts may be protected with an agent intended for that purpose or polish cream.

Fronts must be cleaned solely with soft cotton or microfibre cloth soaked in 1% soap water solution. In case of stubborn dirt, delicate cleaning liquid may be used, however, afterwards the surface must be additionally wiped with a moist cloth. The cleaning agent contact with the surface must be short.

It is not allowed to use abrasive cleaning agents (liquids, creams, powders), furniture cleaning agents including wax, vinegar, alcohol or highly concentrated cleaning preparations.

The aforesaid principles must be absolutely complied with in order not to damage the front and not to lose the guarantee rights.
